The Toronto Cupcake Bouquets Story...

Hi... I'm Joana, the owner and cupcake artist of Toronto Cupcake Bouquets.

 

I've enjoyed baking and decorating cakes my whole life.

I immigrated to Toronto, Canada as a child.

As an adult I've worked in a few different industries such as Travel, death-care and healthcare industry.

 I've been a Registered Massage Therapist for 15 years.

Baking has been a lifelong hobby that I really enjoy for a few reasons; it's creative, it's a stress reliever but mainly it's because I love sweets and I get instant gratification.

Back in 2015 I learned how to pipe roses and hydrangeas onto cupcakes for someone's birthday. 

At the beginning of the pandemic as everyone was baking bread, I decided to give piping buttercream flowers another go... and thus began this floral cupcake adventure.

In the fall of 2021 a good friend of mine (Nadia) contacted me to make her a bouquet.  She didn't tell me who it was for until she came to pick it up. Turned out it was for a good friend of hers, who I had met on few occasions and find her to be quite a delight. Nadia's friend is a Toronto radio producer and when she received her bouquet, she did what we all do... she shared photos of her bouquet on her social media.

 Needless to say, her post led to a few other local radio and tv personalties ordering bouquets from me as well.

One of those personalities happened to be none other than the TV host of the lifestyle show, Cityline, Ms. Tracy Moore.  
Tracy was having a photoshoot for her birthday and wanted to order a bouquet to possibly use it in the shoot.

Tracy told me she would tag me in her birthday posts, which I thought it was very kind of her given that she had paid for her bouquet. 

 

Well, little did I know how my life was about to change.

One fine Saturday morning, I woke up and did my usual... go onto instagram and slowly warm up to the world, when I noticed I had 50 direct messages. I thought my phone must've had a glitch or someone spammed my inbox. Nope, that was not it.Turns out, Tracy did as she said and tagged me on her posts and her stories which led to hundreds and hundreds of inquirie, orders and over a thousand new followers in the span of 24 hours. It took me days to get back to everyone who saw the post and wanted to place their order for their special person.  I had so many orders for that first week, that I had no idea if I even had enough supplies to wrap the bouquets in. 

 

Since then, I've  been able to not only create more fun and beautiful bouquets but I've also had the absolute  privilege and honour to be a small part of so many people's special occasions.

From baby showers, gender reveals, birthdays, wedding showers, weddings, anniversaries, staff appreciations, Valentine's day,  Mother's Day, Father's Day, get well soon, celebration of life, and everything in between, I've been able not only create these bouquets but also it led me to doing a few local markets, film a couple of segments for a local Portuguese television program and I've hosted a few beginner workshops. 

I'm so lucky that I get the chance to not only enjoy my job as a Massage Therapist but I also get the opportunity to have another enjoyable and successful business doing something that I thought was always going to be "just" a hobby.  

 

It's been quite the journey and I look forward to be able to create new and fun bouquets for your next special event.
